oct 15 question 3

I will pick one conception that really stands out to me. “Self-Serving Biases” errors that we may not understand, leads some to draw upon conclusion. Three include misconception that we are in control, overestimating ourselves comparison to others, and exaggerate our strengths and minimize our weaknesses. The misconception that we control chance when it come to lottery tickets. I believe that people rely of luck more than anything. The sales of lottery tickets have boasted up even in a Recession. Next, overestimation ourselves comparison to others, the ability that we feel that it is our fault for irrational events to happen to us and feel like one is in control. This misconception really creates us to think it is ones fault. Furthermore, we might believe that we had control over the situation. Finally, exaggerate our strengths and minimize our weaknesses, the notion that we are overconfidence is vital because if we don’t reach a dream one can put themselves down. This understanding that we can only do so much creates a burden when one doesn’t reach a goal. Thank you for the read.

Chapter 3 Question 3

I found one of the interesting comment in Rhetorical Devices is euphemism. Euphemism creates a positive meaning amongst words which changes how one my feel about a situation. Take for example, research has been done that words make a difference when one votes. I can word a survey, “What do you think about the choice of the killing of a baby?” people would vote against it. Now, “what do you think about pro-choice abortion?” These both will create different result on the votes, but the words used are different.  I couldn’t believe that I knew about this type before I read it in chapter 3.

Question 2 Week of October 1, 2012

I used sarcasm to really reflect upon people’s insults. I really feel they don’t know how to interpret sarcasm. I was told the other day what if I steal a credit card number on a family member. I simple said, “I would steal the number” they simple said nothing in reply. This really strike people as is he really saying that as for reals or just too be smart? I find if you’re going to insult someone please do it in a matter of respect. I use sarcasm, when I feel someone is insulting me. Furthermore, I will not sit there an talk for a long period of time if I feel really insulted. I know when someone ask a real legitimate question. They usually don’t direct it towards someone.
I use hyperbole to say when I say a basketball game. For example, I said, “the was the greatest game I have ever seen.” Yet, it was a great game and I loved it. Although it wasn’t the greatest game I have ever seen.
