Concept for week Sept. 24

                 The concept that I picked up this week is Rationalists: Religious Beliefs and Reason. These effect our world every day. Rationalists is that reason and evidence should maintain consistent with peoples belief. Evidence is followed by reason; therefore, when you believe that you are full evidences then where does reason for that doesn’t have evidence fit in?

                Atheist not all believe that faith is all irrational, some of them find it hard to believe in God. The world of an atheist is that maybe shape upon how he doesn’t see evidence towards God. The reason that there is no evidence that he exist really creates the notion of not believing. While other religion belief in more than one God. They believe in Gods.

                An Agnostic person may believe upon God and with ultimately faith. There for if his reason is question he may still turn to the faith. Faith in God as being all real. To question it is a lack of faith to some extent. There is a mix of people within faith and reason. Therefore, making this concept of Rationalist really great.

Existence

               The theory of evolution is that it is the survival of the fittest. God as being one is not incompatible because science is notion of proof. The notion of God is that everything already exist. The good and bad has always been. Yet, one God holds a higher standard because people need rules. While evolution is that we progress with our rules and as we move forward.

                While one say prove it the other says done. The first three maybe different the unmoved mover, the cosmological Argument, The Argument from Degree, and The Teleological. The only escape is to really rely upon that given to oneself. This is he who creates his own life becomes one. He would reassure that God does exist.

                Aquinas would have to use version from the scripture. This is the real assurance he has. Therefore, saying that faith is enough to believe that there is something greater. The proof of God existence is one and only. While, I think this is what Aquinas may say if he was still alive.

Career question

                                My strengthen for choosing a career. My reasoning for my strongest best suited choice is that I am a problem solver. For this reason my logic to understand how things work or function plays a key role, I learn by knowing. This helped my find finance of interest. This type of reasoning helps me to go further beyond just memorizing formulas.

                I find it easy to know that things work a certain way. That they serve a basic function and math has that. Furthermore, math is straight forward as it usually has one answer to the problem. This in fact helps me really think about using reasoning. Looking for evidence in whatever my reason may come to the conclusion. Therefore, I love to know about business and the market.

                It has really been great to know that I need to know about how thing function. This type of reasoning helps me to conclude good choices for the economy. No one ever can really know it all yet trying to study certain aspects helps me. Thank you for the read…

inductive argument

                Being a referee which has its up’s and down, majority of the time a referee keeps the games functioning in a well manner. Furthermore, this is the first time I have ever been a referee for any sport. Well, I am a referee for Elementary 4^th grade through 6^th grade.  I have to be alert and ready for judgment toward our players and coaches.

                I during one game I was being yelled by a coach, and a player. Yet, I didn’t asset the situation because I didn’t feel I need to. I figured its basketball and they need to vent. I was approach the day after the game by a parent. She elaborated that, “no one should yell at the coach in that matter.” Furthermore, “I would have taken my kid out of the game, if he would ever yell at an adult in such a way.”

                She felt that coach was it was affecting the players as the coach was a bad example. I tried to see it in a parent’s perspective which was how I would want my coach and child to act. We adult should set the good example for our children. Although I am not a parent so I wouldn’t know first-hand. My interest is the kids’ well-being.

                I wrote notes about what was the issue between with the parent, who pointed out a problem. This is something that needs to be address, I have been writing the issue to be clear. So I am going to schedule a meeting.  

Concept I picked up

                I am going to write about a key concept that I picked up this week; Evaluating Causal Arguments. The top is essential to me because I deal with causal people whom are in my life every day. “The evidence for a causal relationship should be strong;” furthermore, in a causal relationship needs more proof than a correlation relation. A causal relation is much more being tested. “Controlled experiments are one of the best methods for determining if a particular relationship is causal rather than simply a correlation  (Boss, 2010).” Next, fallacies are usual popular false notion, while it makes sense to be influence by popular notion. Popularity isn’t right all the time. Which brings us to the next point, current evidence will hold a higher grown as well for a longer duration. Fourth, the term “probably” in a situation where keeping the conclusion within the premises, this testing the casual relationship. "Reaching Out" Antonia Novello

                The first thing about page 221 in the text which Dr. Novello is addressing is public health. The cause-and-effect reasoning in the text is as follows. That there was teens and children seem to increase in smoking when Camel ads came on, the ads during the 1988 (Boss). The cause was the ads either seeming appealing to teens and children. As that group that it seem to attract; furthermore, she increased the awareness between the ads the group being targeted. Advocating with information about public violence and AIDS that increased public health.

                I didn’t come from a well-off family or a middle class family. I have always searched to find my passion. Now that I have found it, I feel a true relief to finds my passion. I want to write a book about motivation, the keys to obtaining that you most desire. I wouldn’t give my life for the world, for I can write a book about before going to school. That will help trouble teens with their own choices. Sometimes we need to know we can relate to someone that alone makes a “HUGE” difference. Thank you for reading…

Concept pick-up

               Precising definition can be a boring through concept. The fact of allocating the right phrase may not leave the reader confused to what one is asking, or trying to communicate. I used this example even dictionaries have several different meanings, so they too may differ from each other. I found that source in Finance differ from each other. Although, Accounting number should stay constant. I also found out that Excel may differ from you day to day calculator. Answers may come out different.

                I must say keeping things constant and emphasing on the meaning which can deliver much better results. Being vague might consist of not getting the answer one is looking for. To say the least when looking for an answer, how you interpret? Take for example today’s day and age how around the world obesity may be found as a problem. Scientist put a cut off line for physician to look at it under “Body Mass Index.” While the index may say obese, the person may be a body builder; therefore, weighing more than what is the cut off point for obese. It doesn’t take into account he is an outlier. I hope this is helpful…

Death?

                Most of today’s philosophy is hard push, whether one stands alone or stands amongst a group. Yet, concepts of the Death Penalty seem perspective. Sister Helen Prejean, “ the death penalty is a violation of to return hate for hate and evil for evil.” “People who identify themselves as Christians are more likely to support the death penalty.” The question is more of Jesus of Nazareth passage, “who taught us to not to return hate for hate and evil for evil.” Furthermore, whether this scriptural passage prohibits the usage of the death penalty?

                In closing I may not know a lot about religion, one may say how law and the judicial system would act on the guilty. Murder is a crime which is regarded a sin under Christian faith. Trading hate for hate and evil for evil says it is wrong in this passage. While I can’t speak for Christians in this spectrum of the death penalty because I don’t know the core value or am Christian. “Elementary my dear Watson”-Sherlock Holmes

               I grew up in a small town where not many people believe many possiblities. Even in the world of today some still don’t believe that the mind can accomplish abundance. I went to College, ran Cross-Country, full-time student, and was school student government President for my college. Here I was pushing my mental state of mind to see how far I can push it.

                I told my friends of all the things I could do. It really dawn on me as they would call me a “liar.” They couldn’t believe it that a person like I could turn around his life, and do so much in little time. My friends couldn’t believe that I got good grades. I am optimistic, this definitely helped me out. 

               My friends relied upon opinion and unsupported of assumptions, which I was drawn by my past. I really felt, “what’s the point of proving my time used.” Yet, I started showing them proof. The proof is set in stone, for I have certifications and paper work.

                Drawing an opinion based on critics, it didn’t leave them open mind for people to believe me from the start. This can throw out “what are the facts?” The evidence of facts are things to really collect the “Proof.” I just put this for the purpose of making a keen Sherlock Holmes idea, or how I interpret it. Key noted, I don’t share this with many people.

Constructing an argument

               There can be big issues that can come from jumping to a conclusion so, constructing to an argument becomes necessary. The opposite would be the benefit of the doubt. Whether they may be a simple argument like, “I lost my phone that’s why I couldn’t call you.” “Your position is immoral because you think national health care is wrong.” Whether, we have different moral opinions about what is moral and what isn’t. Evidence gives a little more understanding from both sides to come to an agreement, and/or what right and wrong.

                Stating an issue can be tricky. Being clear with an issue really creates this sense of knowledge to pinpoint what is the core issue. Should school raise the price of tuition? Should tuition be raise when student’s unemployment is high?

                Developing a list of premises one puts opinion usually stand as weak arguments. Assumptions as, “you are evil because you don’t believe in God; therefore, your statement is wrong and evil.” Things maybe so ingrate into us one may forget having an open mind. The three factors that help develop a good premise credible, and complete with stating it clearly. Spending time on what is premise is going to be used.

                Eliminating weak or irrelevant premises one weak link can disrupt the function of an argument. Irrelevant premises is not relevant to the issue and drifts the arguments for one side. Avoid being vague and confusing in toward arguments. These premise should be avoid for resolving issues.

                Establish a Conclusion, countering each side doesn’t mean a necessary conclusion.  Looking at arguments that are only black or white. Furthermore, either it is wrong or right isn’t strong enough of a statement. Conclusions should be based on facts that support the key premise. Presenting figures like numbers help understand that correlate. For example, we have 1,000 parking spaces and 50% freshmen while 40% live off campus. This has become a big issue for student.

                Organize your argument is a process that may turn out to solve may problems. Although, there is no one way to argue. Constructing a well thought out argument is great. Today there needs to be common ground or a little more understanding that arguments are essential to way of life.

Freedom of Speech

            Freedom of speech, “right to petition” between students, faculty members, and Administers is more of a communication issue.  Communication was a factor between students and the other governing bodies. Public transportation was cut back for to hour periods, which affected students from going on with their daily routines. I was part of Student Government Association (SGA) at my Junior College. While an abundance of students expected to hear that not many students had a voice.  I felt that I had a responsibility to bridge the gap between communication students and other governing bodies.

            I had the students get signatures for a petition. The students got the signature required for a petition and took it to the Transportation service company. They petition wasn’t enough of an argument that the economy really had a down turn. So they couldn’t service between 6:00pm, 7:00pm, and 8:00.

            I presented the issue to the Governance and Planning it may seem a little scary at the time. I was on the agenda for the Governance and Planning as I was a board member. I presented the issue to the board that students didn’t have transportation during after 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and in fact some students got out of class at about 6:00p.m; therefore, waiting 3 hours for the only transportation they may have. Yet, I stated that because of the draw backs of the economical situation they weren’t going every hour. So, they stop transportation at the campus for 3 periods.

            The college president said he would look into the situation, which he would take matters into his own hands. Next, meeting he addressed the issue and said there would be a hotline telephone number for anyone needing a ride between those hours. I found this great communication is an art.

Obama on Same-Sex

               Barak Obama may have opposed to legalizing same-sex marriage on a federal level yet supports civil unions and equal rights for same-sex couples. Whether, his beliefs are consistent in equal rights and opportunities for all people, regardless of their sexual orientation. The Federal Supreme court and civil court differs yet are similar in United States of America. From civil court to State court and Federal court in general. The Federal Supreme court may present a degree of Defense Of Marriage Act, which has an argument, this is what the system is built on. Well, no court is really above the other.

                The federal level makes up the federal government to consist of the supreme law the land. Furthermore, it inquires that all American states shall abide by Federal Constitution, or Law. Civil law is amongst persons and organizations; as in this situation same sex-marriage is someone’s legal status. Although, 38 states have adopted constitution and/or law against same-sex marriage. Some of these states have adopted “defense of marriage” meaning that marriage is defined as between a man and a woman.

                Six states have created a legal statue which recognizes same-sex marriage. Although, at the federal level does not recognizing that it is legal. Therefore, not giving the full benefits the homosexual who get married. On the other hand, same-sex marriage has been tried many time at the supreme level there seem to not be a solution on how Federal law passing this law. While Obamas standing point may seem like giving up; it may be for each state to choice how it interprets same-sex marriage. There is not concrete evidence to why he chooses to agree with same-sex marriage at civil level, rather than the federal level.

                While each state has its own Pro-life and Pro-choice majorities vote.  The states are left with the fact of choosing over same-sex marriage. Therefore, it is a capital issue, it takes same sex couples to feel unequal. Barak Obama’s stand should be on the federal level also.
